Animal chiropractic is a complementary holistic treatment method that works as an adjunct to traditional veterinary medicine. Veterinary chiropractic draws on the background of veterinary medicine and human chiropractic to create a therapy which aims optimise the health of your animal. Chiropractors primarily assess back pain and lameness in animals and also offer advice in rehabilitation of injuries for your horse, dog or cow.

Animals communicate their pain and discomfort in varying ways. Many owners first notice a change in an animal's behaviour and a reluctance to work. Below are listed some of the more common complaints that can benefit from treatment by a qualified veterinary chiropractor.

"Leon"
Emma has been treating my ex-racehorse over the past couple of months and I have found her services to be fantastic. She is patient, kind, friendly and genuinely seems concerned about the welfare of your animal. I noticed an immediate improvement in my horse after the first visit...he was a happy horse and not the uncomfortable horse I had bought 4 months earlier. As a vet myself, I HIGHLY recommend Emma and I know she will remain a familiar presence on our yard.

"Benny"
"When my 6 year old ex-racehorse became reluctant to go forward or jump, especially on the right rein, I got my physio out to have a look at him. She found some tight spots, but no real issues, and suggested he may have problems with his hocks or kissing spine. I contacted my vet who carried out a lameness work-up, and he agreed he seemed to have lower back issues. He xrayed his back and hocks which came out completely clear, and suggested I carry on riding him as usual.

After 2 weeks I was still very unhappy with Benny's way of going, so I contacted Emma. After just one treatment, the difference in Benny was brilliant. He became less resistant in his transitions, and after a couple more treatments, he was back jumping with no issues and gaining dressage scores of over 70%! I am so pleased I found Emma, she was the only one who believed me when I said there was something wrong with Benny, everyone else had just written him off as "another awkward ex-racehorse!"

"Freddie", Irish Sport Horse

8 year old Freddie was reluctant to collect on one rein, was known to refuse jumps and didn't like going down hill. He also scraped his hind legs together when turning on a circle. After one treatment this is the report back from owner Lucy:

"Freddie is doing very very well. A friend of mine jumped him over 1.50m and said afterwards that he was 'bouncing on the spot'. He has a lot more power than before....he's much happier to do lateral movements like leg yielding. I got him to do extended trot the other day...he is so much better!"

Freddie stopped scraping his hind legs together when being turned on a circle immediately post treatment.
